My name is Abigail, I am the Managing Director of Patissez. Patissez is a franchise from Canberra, Australia. Justin on the other hand is the Creative Director.
The founder of Patissez is from Australia. The first Patissez dessert cafe in Malaysia was located in Bangsar, it was closed down but soon it will be reopened again. Therefore, right now Patissez Damansara Uptown is the flagship.
Q: What makes you start this franchise business?
Actually I have never been in an F&B line, my major was in Broadcast Journalism. When I came back last year, Justin proposed to me about opening up a dessert cafe and coincidentally I like desserts. I am a sucker for dessert. I had tried the food before and Freakshake is something very special. It’s not like the common milkshake, every Freakshake has a theme of their own and it is a mashup between a milkshake and other dessert. So i decided to start this franchise with Justin.
Q: Speaking about Freakshake, do you mind sharing more about it?
Freakshake is one of Patissez’s signatures. Each of them has their own purpose and own elements. It’s actually started in our own bakery, we handcrafted everything ourselves. Therefore it is very fresh and it is made from scratch. You can’t buy anything from the market even the chocolate ganache, coconut ganache and salted caramel, because we made them ourselves. The Freakshakes come in two sizes: Freakshake and baby Freakshake which is much smaller.
Pretzella is our signature Freakshake, it is a combination of our secret recipe, nutella and pretzo. Our selling point is our secret recipe for the Freakshake.
Besides the beverages, our food has a lot of Aussie influence. We have all day breakfast, which is very Westernised. Our signature food is Herby Roasted Mushrooms which is rated number 1, followed by Bakers Breakfast and Freak Burger. We use Australia-imported beef patty for the Freak Burger.
We also try to bring in some Malaysian flavour, so we have Thai Green Curry Chicken which was invented from Patissez Thailand. Malaysian loves curry, so we decided to bring it in.
We also have our really cute artisan doughnuts. There are a lot of flavours such as Lemon Meringue, Onde-Onde, Nutella, Salted Egg Yolk and more.
We also provide coffee and we use Patissez Coffee Beans which is our secret recipe as well. We don’t buy ready-made from the market, so everything is very fresh.
Q: Why is it called Freakshake?
Because it is huge. When you see the presentation, you will freak out. So one of our slogans is ‘Get your freak on’.
