Q: Introduction of yourself
I am Jeff, 31 years old. I started this furniture shop in 2016 with a partner. What differentiates us with others would be our Northern European furniture designs which are modern, minimalist yet artistic. Furniture industry in Malaysia is still upholding the traditional business model. Whereas, I usually travel around the world to get inspiration on different concepts, designs and accessories available in the market.
Q: Your place is kind of far off, aren’t you afraid of the customer couldn’t find your place?
Social media nowadays is getting more and more advanced. We are using these platforms to advertise ourselves and our products. We also set up Waze and Google map to direct people here. Since the place is a bit far from the city, we can get a bigger workplace at a cheaper bargain and that’s why we can offer our furniture at a cheaper price as compared to our competitors.
Q: Is the business doing well?
It is quite good because more people are getting fonder of this modern yet modest Scandinavian design. Secondly, it is affordable in our shop. People love great stuffs with low price tags. There are few distribution channels in our business such as collaboration with property agents and contractors that help boost our sales as well.
Q: What inspire you to venture into the furniture industry?
For me, furniture is a necessity. In my opinion, housing development in Malaysia is still progressing. There are still many lands to build houses and the population here is growing day by day. When people buy a house, they will definitely need furniture and that is why I ventured into this industry.
Q: Do you plan to grow your business?
I have plans to export my furniture to overseas in the future but I think at this juncture, we will open more branches domestically. Once we have good management and network, I will certainly expand my business elsewhere.
Q: What is the most enjoyable moment while doing this business?
When my customer finds a piece of furniture that cannot be found in any other furniture shops and at a much cheaper price, I feel very happy about it. Sometimes the customer gets inspired by the design and thanks me for that. Also, when the customer tells me about how much compliments they received from the furniture they bought from me, that is what makes me feel accomplished.
